Conclusion
(out of 5 stars)
I really liked the Olympus C-5050 Zoom when I reviewed it in 2003, and I really like the Olympus C-5060 Zoom now in 2004. It may not have added any radical new features or more megapixels, but the addition of the wide-angle lens, faster operation and an LCD that now swivels as well as tilts all add up to make a great design even better. Olympus have resisted the temptation to radically overhaul a winning camera - instead they have tweaked it and added a few important new features that in my view make it even more of a photographer's camera than before. The Olympus C-5060 Zoom gives you full control over the creative picture-taking process whilst at the same time beings easy to understand and straight-forward to use. The only real downsides are the limited ISO range, with noise becoming apparent at ISO 200 and 400, and the slow RAW mode. The Olympus C-5060 Zoom may not be the prettiest or most compact camera that has ever been designed, but it is undoubtedly well-suited to all you shutterbugs out there. Even more strongly recommended than the C-5050 Zoom, which is high praise indeed.
