Introduction

Epson Stylus Photo 950The Epson Stylus Photo 950 currently sits at the top of Epson's range of A4 photo printers. It's a 6 colour, 2880 x 1440 dpi printer aimed firmly at the professional and amateur photographer, with a large number of additional features that make it stand out in a crowded marketplace. I was especially interested in testing the Epson Stylus Photo 950 because I own an older Epson model, the Stylus Photo 890, and I wanted to find out what improvements Epson had made to their latest model. Would I be impressed enough to consider upgrading? Read on to find out.

Price

The Epson Stylus Photo 950 has a recommended retail price of £379 including VAT. A quick search on Kelkoo.co.uk revealed a price range of anywhere between £243 to £309, with Dabs.com and PC World both selling it for £260 - quite a substantial saving over the original price.

This puts the Epson Stylus Photo 950 into direct competition with the newer Hewlett Packard Photosmart 7960 and Canon i950 A4 printers, not to mention older A3 printers on the market such as Epson's own Stylus Photo 1290 and Canon's Bubblejet S9000.
