The Epson P-2000 Multimedia Storage Viewer has done what few products that I have reviewed here on PhotographyBLOG have ever done - made their way into my camera bag! The Epson P-2000 has impressed me so much that I plan to buy one just as soon as Amazon have it in stock. The Epson P-2000 represents the best compromise between having a laptop computer or one of the other portable storage devices on the market. I envisage using the Epson P-2000 both out in the field where speed, battery life and successful data transfers are key, and later for showing my work to clients, friends and family. The Epson P-2000 satisfies all of these requirements in an easy to use and very stylish way. Added bonuses are the ability to listen to MP3s and play digital video, although both file format support and playback features are rather limited when compared to a dedicated player. The only downsides that I can think of are that the non-upgradeable 40Gb hard drive may not be big enough in a couple of years time (depending on the particular camera that you use), you need to buy an adapter if you use anything other then Compact Flash, MicroDrive or SD memory cards, and viewing the RAW files from some digital cameras are not currently supported, even with the latest firmware version installed. For owners of compatible cameras, however, the Epson P-2000 is simply one of the best portable storage solutions available today.
